
Habitat Creation
Regardless of the location, floating treatment wetlands will immediately attract wildlife. Whether it’s a Great Blue Heron using the island as a perch for fishing or a Mallard looking for a safe spot to nest, wildlife are drawn to this unique type of habitat. Floating treatment wetlands are also unsurpassed in terms of creating fish habitat in virtually any aquatic environment. Islands simultaneously provide shade, cover and food, readily attracting both small and large fish. In ponds with limited available habitat, islands are an excellent way to boost the productive capacity of the fish community. Site Restoration
Site restoration is another important application for floating treatment wetland technology. Floating islands form naturally in many aquatic ecosystems around the world. Being able to recreate this specialized type of community provides restoration ecologists with a unique tool.
